STAIRS, LOCKED UP AND LOCKED OUT.

Bifold door from the inside.
Looking towards kitchen. Spots must be raindrops.

Standard staircase. So much better than that ladder.
What to do with that space?

Looking down from the top.

Internal doors waiting to be hung.

Our new internal garage door.

A "bugger, I'm locked out", photo of the kitchen cabinets.

More dirty glass to take a photo through.
The study door.
Things have continued to move along, the stairs are in, cornice is done, internal doors have been hung and the cabinets have begun to be fitted. Only problem for us is that we are locked out and cannot get a good look at everything. Hopefully, someone will forget to lock a door and we can again sneak a peak.

  1. It's it exciting and painful to be locked out!! You know it means that it is on the downhill part of the build but you really want to see what is going on.
If you can drop in around lunch times or on your way to work, then you might be able to get in when the trades are there.

All looking great, love those doors :-)

    Cheers

  2. Congrats on being locked up. I am sure you will have lots of chances to get in and have a look around. So those stairs, are they the standard style or something different. We went for the contemporary staircase. R&C

  3. Aargh! The home builder's worst nightmare - Locked out! :-( At least as BB said it means that they are moving along with your build. Kitchen looks great from what I can see!!!

  4. This is my third attempt at posting a comment.
They keep disappearing. Your blog is designed differently, so I have to stop clicking around because I lose my comment each time :(

    Ok, where was I?

I feel your frustration. You just want to get inside and see the progress. Lock up is annoying!

J is right: Try going around there when the tradies are on site. If they starting going on about how you're not supposed to be on site, try batting your eyelids and have a few "coldies" in your handbag. Oh, and make sure you have your camera in your handbag too :))

Loving those stairs! I'm sure you'll find something for all that space. Are you carpeting the stairs, painting or staining?

    Cheers

  5. Thanks BB or should I say J, took your advice and went in when someone was there. Also took the camera so it was good to see and get some shots.
We're pretty happy with the doors, they were one of the few things we did upgrade.

Thanks to you too R and C, the stairs are standard and we really like them. We breathed a sigh of relief when we saw them because they didn't have a sample of them at Hopetoun Interiors. We did however get to see them on display at Cranbourne South.

Yes K and T we did get the invoice and yes it was scary! You'll be pleased to see some better pictures coming up in a couple of blogs.

Liana and Rob, sorry you are finding it hard to post comments on my blog, I know M and J had trouble also. Maybe it's something I've done. Thanks for persisting because I love what you have to say and you always make me giggle.
On getting in, I asked nicely the other day and was able to go in and have a look around and get some photos.
Nothing in comparison to what you have [I'm only half way through your last lot, will see the other half soon]. I totally understand how you must feel and am amazed you have stayed as strong as you have.
As for our stairs, they are just the standard version and will have hand rail and bigger posts stained. The steps and smaller posts will be painted and after handover they will be carpeted.

  6. ooooh, that is the standard staircase? We're having issues with PD at the moment. We picked the standard staircase out of a picture. And we're having it carpeted. but they say that to have the 2 inches of the tread where the balustrade meets each tread (ie the part that is not carpeted)..that if we want that bit of the tread stained to match the handrail and bullnose tread, we have to pay $1803. The standard is supposed to be mdf...apparently. But yours looks like Timber. Which PD office are you building through? We're with Western office. Any help you can give us would be helpful.

  7. Hi Ruey, our stairs are mdf, just the posts and balustrades are timber. Maybe its just the angle of the photo that makes them look like timber.
We're building through the east office.
We are hoping to carpet our stairs also so I hope it can be done.
Good luck with your issue I know they aren't always flexible and any change is always at your expense. Relle.
